CX is all about variability in power output. So even when you are working on building your aerobic capacity it is important to keep that stochastic stimulus on your neuromuscular system. Another way to approach these intervals is to keep the cadence high during the easier efforts, then shift to a harder gear just before each burst, forcing yourself to apply even more torque. This workout can be done several times a week as a foundation for maintaining aerobic capacity throughout the CX season.
